The Russian ambassador to Tehran, Luan Jagaryan, said that his country expects to ask Iran to authorize the use of its air bases to carry out raids inside Syrian territory.
The ambassador said in statements to the Iranian "Mehr" that the Iranian and Russian sides are continuously coordinating with regard to Syria, pointing out that the visit of Ali Shamkhani, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran to Russia was to talk in this context.
The ambassador added that Russia does not rule out using the Hamadan air base west of Iran again to carry out air strikes in Syria, pointing out that Russian officials will speak to their Iranian counterparts in need.
He said that the relations between Moscow and Tehran are good and not limited to the Syrian issue only.
Russia used the Hamadan air base in August 2016 and launched several air strikes on areas under the control of the revolutionary factions of Syria, but its use did not last for more than two weeks to declare the Iranian Foreign Ministry that Russia has stopped using its air base..
